Kittens!
I can not stress this matter hard enough.
I read this quote some while ago on a friends twitter:
“We Need To Make Books Cool Again.
If You Go Home With Somebody And They Don’t Have Books,
Don’t Fuck Them.”
We, (and by we I mean all of us who live in a kind of nomatic state, where we move from appartment to appartment without ever having a solid home. But also we, who never really took the time to get our things in order) have to get our collection of books straight!
As it is said in Sayat Nova (The color of pomegranades): And this is not all, I still have somewhere around, one or two movingboxes in a friends Basement.
I can of course manage to keep my books well, but I have no chance of reading them.
What if I, let's say, wanted to know more about the Chinese Propaganda posters right on this spot (the red book in the lower west corner of my tower).
I would have to tear down every book higher up in my tower, just to get the book out that i wanted.
I would learn more, but I would most certainly would be left with a lot of work, trying to rebuild the useless tower which i call my library.
What I have, is a malfuctioning way of dealing with any form of library.
Soon, I am on my way again, moving from a appartment that I wish I could call my own.
But I have learned, that in my new appartment, which I will share with my beloved, this is what i will work hard to upbuild:
It will be buildt with asymmetric spaces an probably painted white. It might mean that I would have to steal some walls that otherwise could carry some beautiful pictures. But them to, can be displayed in this beautifull library.
Now Kittens, look at your own bookshelves; are they really the best sollution you could come up with?
Or does your system discriminate and disrespect the knowledge you're trying to hold on to?
